カナダ/エドモントン拠点のオルタナティヴポップアーティスト Dempsey Boltonが、12/3にリリースしたニューシングル 'Wrapped'を公開！
2020年にデビューEP『Monochrome』、2025年にアルバム『I'm Not Sad, U Are』を発表。これまでに Thomas Thomasなどと共演してます。
「Spotify Wrapped's making me sad / Every song I've ever had / Boiled down to digits inside of an app」から始まる、この時代のアーティストだから歌えることを歌っているのが良い。
“Wading through the waters of Spotify Wrapped is tricky. As an artist, you try not to compare yourself but then here is this entire event reducing your art and expression to numbers. It’s jarring to have such a one-to-one comparison of you versus every artist you know... so I tried to produce the song in a way that accentuated the feelings I poured into the lyrics, choosing a grittier, more distorted sound, even bordering on raw at points.”
Spotify Wrappedという水の中を渡り歩くのは容易ではありません。アーティストとしては、他人と比較しないように努めますが、このイベント全体が、あなたのアートと表現を数字に還元してしまうのです。知っているすべてのアーティストと、自分自身が完全に比較されるのは衝撃的です。そのため、私は歌詞に注ぎ込んだ感情を強調するような方法で楽曲を制作しようと試みました。より粗く、歪んだサウンドを選び、時には生々しいギリギリのところまでいきました。
