Kin Hana、'Howling World'を公開

ニューヨーク州ハドソンバレー拠点のオルタナティヴフォークアーティスト Kin Hanaが、9/4にBlack Meadowからリリースしたニューシングル 'Howling World'を公開！

Kin Hanaは、サイケフォークバンド Nighttimeや Longshoreman名義でも活動してきたソングライター・ギタリスト Aaron Hodgesによるプロジェクト。Kin Hanaという名前は、約100年前に日本からアメリカへ移住した自身の曽祖父の名前に由来します。

'Howling World'は10/23発売の2ndアルバム『Howling World』のタイトル曲。

6年振りの新曲。陰鬱でアンビエントな質感が漂うドゥームフォークからフォークロックのオルタナ寄りくらいまでを表現に用いるSSWです。ポストロックの気配もうっすらあるかな。

“This song came out of René Magritte’s painting Young Girl Eating a Bird. I was drawn to the contradiction in the image — she seems to be turning away from the world while at the same time literally devouring a piece of it. There’s something wild and irrational about the act that I felt I understood without being able to fully explain. The “howling world” became both the senseless world she’s turning away from and the one she’s suddenly part of. I realized that feeling ran through much of the record, and the song eventually gave the album its name.”

この曲はルネ・マグリットの絵画『鳥を食べる少女』から生まれました。彼女が世界から背を向けているように見えながら、同時に文字通りその一部を貪り食っているという、絵の中にある矛盾に惹かれたのです。その行為には、完全には説明できなくても理解できるような、野生味と不条理さがありました。“howling world”とは、彼女が背を向けている無意味な世界であると同時に、彼女が突如としてその一部となってしまった世界でもあります。その感覚がアルバムの大部分を貫いていることに気づき、最終的にこの曲がアルバムタイトルになりました。
