スコットランド出身で音響心理学の博士号を持つシンガーソングライター Tommy Ashbyが、6/6にDance To The Radioからリリースしたニューアルバム『Mantis』より、'Liar Liar'を公開！
初のセルフプロデュース作品となるセカンドアルバム。
デビューアルバム『Lamplighter』制作時に、ロンドンのワンルームマンションから現在住んでいるサフォークの田園地帯へ移り、広大な空、葦原、夕日を眺めながら自然との繋がりを取り戻したとのことで、今作は特にその影響を感じさせます。
“I really liked the idea of writing a happy song about being a liar. Someone who was entirely joyful about their lying capability, like when you see a baddie in a film strutting off into the distance looking pleased with themselves. Liar Liar is also about the little lies that everyone tells every day that I think make them a good person. Or things they keep to themselves. I didn’t want a song about lying to be to sad or morose, I wanted it to sound like a strange slightly wonky bop.”
嘘つきであることをハッピーに歌うっていうアイデアがすごく気に入ったんです。映画で悪役が満足げに歩き去っていくみたいな、嘘をつく自分を誇らしげに思ってる人のイメージ。'Liar Liar'は、誰もが日常でつく小さな嘘――それが実はその人を優しい人にしているような―や、誰にも言わずに胸にしまっていることについての曲でもあります。嘘をテーマにしたからといって悲しい曲にはしたくなかった。ちょっといびつだけど不思議でノれる曲にしたかったんです。
