ニューヨーク拠点のプロデューサー Jake Muskatによるソロプロジェクト Sea Glassと、リッチモンド拠点のアーティスト Benétが、11/1にリリースしたコラボレーション・シングル '(i have jokes) If You Wanna Hear One'を公開！
ミックスは Abe Seiferth (Guerilla Toss, Nation Of Language)が担当。
一連のシングル、EPに共通する温かみのある音とキャッチーなメロディで、昨年頃から目にする機会が多くなったインディーポップメイカー Sea Glass。来年にはデビューアルバムのリリースを控えてます。
今回のコラボ相手は Bayonet Records (Beach Fossils, Bloomsday)のニューカマー Benét。折衷的な表現と幾重にも重なるハーモニーの移ろいが魅力的な人で、この曲でもそのキャラクターが存分に発揮されてますね。
“I liked the idea so much I decided to record it, but wanted to make it fit my production style. As I worked on it, I was more excited by its progress than anything else at the time. It took me 6 months of searching for a good top line when Benét offered to write on it. Their playful melody and lyrics just smashed the demo death loop I was in into smithereens.
