ミズーリ州セントルイス拠点のフォークロックアーティスト Turner Codyが、2/6にCapitane Recordsからリリースしたニューアルバム『Out for Blood』より、'Recognize a Friend'のMVを公開！
ディレクターは Cam Kennedy。
Turner Codyは、ニューヨークのアンチフォークシーンから登場した20年以上のキャリアを持つシンガーソングライター。
前作に続いて、ソロアーティストとしても素晴らしい作品を出している Nicolas Michauxがプロデューサーを務め、演奏は The Soldiers Of Loveが担当。
誠実かつ粗削りだからこそ響く歌力や、アメリカの伝統的な音楽性にヨーロッパ風味を加えるアンサンブル。前述の通り、20年過ごしたニューヨークから離れた影響も少なからずあるっぽいですね。
参加ミュージシャンは全員すごいけどその中でもギタリスト Clement Nourryが今回やばくて、ピッキングのニュアンスがめっちゃ良い音で存分に楽しめます。もし気に入ったら Under The Reefs Orchestra, Yôkaïとか、彼が参加している作品もチェックしてみてください。
“I wrote Recognize a Friend almost by accident in 2018 while living in Ridgewood, Queens. Thinking back to the early 2000s, when hipsters — girls included — dressed like Keith Richards, I imagined “Billy,” an archetype of my generation, watching his dreams slowly fade. Originally meant for an acoustic record, the song took on a new life when Nicolas Michaux heard something in it, eventually becoming one of my catchiest tracks.”
