イングランド/ロンドン拠点のインディーポップバンド Pynchが、1/9にChillburn Recordingsからリリースしたニューシングル '2009'のMVを公開！
ディレクターは Spencer Enock, Scott Enock。
Pynchは Spencer Enock, Scott Enock, Julianna Hopkins, James Reesの4人組。2019年にSpeedy Wundergroundからリリースしたデビュー曲 'Disco Lights'で注目を集めた、DIYな作風とエモーショナルなメロディが魅力的なバンドです。
'2009'は4/14発売のデビューアルバム『Howling At a Concrete Moon』収録曲。共同プロデュースに Andy Ramsay (Stereolab)を迎えた作品で、ミックスは Tom Carmichael (Porridge Radio, Matt Maltese)が担当。
地元 マーゲートの象徴的なアミューズメント施設で、フロントマン Spencerの最初の職場でもあったドリームランドをアルバムのアートワークに使い、「ティーンエイジャーであること、日々をスケートして過ごすこと、そして00年代のポップカルチャーの犠牲者であることを振り返っている」と語るこの曲。
LCD Soundsystemの中にある追憶力、より軽く書くとエモみ、Pavementのひたむきさと無垢な質感が組み合わさったような音楽を作ってます。おすすめ。

“I wanted to try and capture a pastoral naivety in smoking weed and skateboarding and then juxtapose it with more serious reflections on that time of my life. It’s sort of about how hard it can be to make sense of your own life’s journey and the process of trying to reconnect and reconcile with a younger version of yourself.”
