Penny Roox、'it wasn't a crime'を公開

オランダ出身のインディーポップアーティスト Penny Rooxが、7/10にPolymoonからリリースしたニューシングル 'it wasn't a crime'を公開！

2021年にデビューシングル 'Mean'、2024年にデビューEP『By My Side』を発表。これまでに Mitch Santiago, Nina June, The Waterboysなどのサポートを務めてます。

'it wasn't a crime'は制作に Thuur Onrustが参加し、プロデュースは Viktor van Woudenburgが担当。

先月久しぶりに出た新曲を聴いたときに全体の雰囲気が変わったのが印象的で、今月の新曲を聴いてもやっぱりそう感じました。

“it wasn't a crime is the most personal song i've written so far. it's not really about the event itself. it's about everything that happened afterwards. the shame that doesn't belong to you but somehow ends up living inside you anyway. the silence. the blurred boundaries. the strange instinct to protect someone who hurt you while questioning your own experience instead. for a long time i searched for evidence against myself before i allowed myself to admit i was hurt. writing this song became the moment i stopped doing that.”

'it wasn't a crime'は、私がこれまでに書いた中で最も個人的な曲です。この曲は、その出来事そのものについて歌ったものではありません。その後に起きたすべてのことについて歌っています。自分には本来関係のないはずなのに、いつの間にか自分の中に居座ってしまう恥の感覚。沈黙。曖昧になってしまった境界線。そして、自分を傷つけた相手をかばおうとする奇妙な本能と、それと同時に自分の体験を疑ってしまう葛藤。自分が傷ついたことを認めるまで、私は長い間、自分自身を責めるための証拠ばかりを探していました。この曲を書くことは、そうした行為をやめるきっかけとなりました。
