Elliot Boyd、'Artificial Bliss - demo'を公開

オランダ出身のオルタナティヴポップアーティスト Elliot Boydが、7/26にリリースしたデビューEP『Artificial Bliss』より、'Artificial Bliss - demo'を公開！

ダンサー・振付師として活動し、イギリスで作詞作曲を学んだという経歴の持ち主。

こだわりのつまったサウンドで魅せる表題曲のオリジナル・バージョンも良かったんですけど、こっちのデモバージョンはストリップダウンした素の雰囲気が穏やかな歌声とマッチしてて素敵でした。

“I started writing 'Artificial Bliss' while studying in England with my schoolmate Laura Kindelan. During that session, we wrote the first verse about how you can have every reason to be happy, but it still doesn’t reach you. At that time, I noticed I was seeking distractions to avoid thinking about how I truly felt. Later, I completed the demo in London with violinist Jed Holland, who also plays violin for artists like Eloise and James Smith. When I returned to the Netherlands, I created an electronic production of it with producer Boudewijn Scholten. The production sounds like a mix of Frank Ocean and Raye with a touch of Sevdaliza. The dreamy summer tones paired with the sadder lyrics make it the perfect ‘sad summer’ track of 2024.”

'Artificial Bliss'を書き始めたのは、同級生のLaura Kindelanとイギリスに留学していたとき。そのセッションの中で、私たちは、幸せになるためのあらゆる理由があっても、それでもそれが届かないということを最初の詩で書いた。そのとき、自分が本当にどう感じているかを考えないようにするために、気晴らしを求めていることに気づいた。その後、ロンドンで、EloiseやJames Smithといったアーティストのヴァイオリン奏者でもあるJed Hollandとデモを完成させた。オランダに戻ってからは、プロデューサーのBoudewijn Scholtenとエレクトロニック・プロダクションを作った。Frank OceanとRayeをミックスしたようなサウンドに、Sevdalizaのタッチを加えた。ドリーミーな夏の曲調と悲しげな歌詞の組み合わせは、2024年の完璧な「悲しい夏」のトラックとなっている。
