Calcou、'Everything OK?'を公開

ドイツ/ベルリン拠点のエレクトロニックデュオ Calcouが、9/25にMfRD+Cからリリースしたニューシングル 'Everything OK?'を公開！

Calcouは、プロデューサー・マルチインストゥルメンタリスト Stefan Merz、シンガーソングライター Thea Alienによる2人組。

ソロ名義での活動を経てライブパフォーマンスを行なうデュオに変貌し、名門レーベル Anjunadeepからリリースを重ねてきた面々です。

'Everything OK?'は来春発売予定のデビューアルバム『bluephoria』収録曲。

シンプルなリフレインだけど、とても重要な意味があって体重の乗ったメッセージがありました。

““Everything OK?” is a deeply personal reckoning with what it means to have been born and raised in Saxony-Anhalt, in what was formerly East Germany. Why was I ashamed, as a child, to say where I was from? Why did the phrase, “Oh, I never would have guessed you were from East Germany,” always feel somehow wrong? And the follow-up — “Oh, I didn’t mean it like that, everything is okay” — never made it any better. “Everything OK?” is about the anger that comes with indifference — the frustration and sense of powerlessness when faced with people who would rather insist that everything is fine than acknowledge conflict.”

'Everything OK?'は、旧東ドイツのザクセン＝アンハルト州で生まれ育ったことが何を意味するのかを巡る、極めて個人的な葛藤を描いています。子どもの頃、なぜ自分の出身地を言うのが恥ずかしかったのか？「へえ、東ドイツ出身だなんて全然思わなかったよ」という言葉が、なぜいつも腑に落ちなかったのか？そして「いや、悪気があって言ったんじゃないんだ、すべて大丈夫だよ」というフォローも、決して気持ちを晴らしてはくれませんでした。この曲は、無関心が生み出す怒りについて歌っています。対立を認めるよりも「すべてOKだ」と言い張りたがる人々に直面したときの、苛立ちと無力感です。わずかな言葉の中に、多くの想いが込められています。吐き出さずにはいられなかった感情なのです。
