イングランド/サウスエンド＝オン＝シー拠点のオルタナティヴロックバンド Asbestos Salesmanが、8/12にAsbestos Bastard Recordsからリリースしたニューシングル '10,000 hrs'を公開！
Asbestos Salesman、アスベスト セールスマン。Dビートをバカスカ叩くハードコアパンクみたいな名前が好き。音の激しさはあながち間違ってないし。
“Ten thousand hours is for when you realise you've got nothing left in the tank except an overwhelming sense of existential dread and a landlord that hikes up the rent on your tiny rotting flat with more vigour than he romps around the Cotswolds. Its about the contrast between the privileged few who have the time and resources to put 10,000 hours into exploring every one of their passions, while others fight for scraps around the kitchen table in a house thats long since collapsed...”
'10,000 hrs'は、タンクに何も残っていないと気づいたときにあるのは、圧倒的な存在への不安と、コッツウォルズを遊び回るよりも精力的に小さく朽ちかけたフラットの家賃を引き上げてくる大家だけだという状況についての曲です。それは、自分の情熱すべてに一万時間を注ぐ時間と資源を持つ特権的な少数がいる一方で、他の人々はとっくの昔に崩壊した家で食卓を囲んで残飯を奪い合っている、そんな対比について歌っています。
