Tristan Armstrong、'Queen of Diamonds'のリリックビデオを公開

カナダ/トロント拠点のインディーロックアーティスト Tristan Armstrongが、2/14にからリリースしたニューシングル 'Queen of Diamonds'のリリックビデオを公開！

3/3発売のニューアルバム『The Lonely Avenue』収録曲で、ミックスは Ryan Farley、マスタリングは Reuben Ghose。

12月のアルバムタイトル曲に続く、爽快なロックナンバーです。

“In a literal sense, the song is about playing cards. I had imagined a game of poker being played in the kitchen of an apartment late at night. A small apartment, like one that’s above a shop. A shabby student sort of place with a formica top table that has cigarette burns on it, and maybe a low-hanging stained glass like fixture casting a yellowish glow. The kind of place you might end up at as an after party location following a show at a bar. In a more metaphorical sense I suppose the song is about committing. Putting all of your eggs in one basket, so to speak. “….time to push all my chips into the pile,” as the lyrics state. This one took a romantic slant as I spent more time with it. My wife and I got married this past summer, and some of that energy is present in the song.”

文字通りの意味では、この曲はカードゲームについて歌っている。深夜のアパートのキッチンで繰り広げられるポーカーのゲームを思い描いたんだ。店の上にあるような小さなアパートで、学生が住んでいそうな安っぽい場所。テーブルはフォーミカ製で、タバコの焦げ跡が残っているかもしれない。そして、ステンドグラス風の低い照明が黄色がかった光を投げかけている。バーでのライブのあと、アフターパーティーの流れで辿り着くような、そんな場所。もっと比喩的な意味では、この曲は「賭けること」、つまりすべてを一つの選択に委ねることについて歌っているんだ。歌詞にもあるように、「……すべてのチップを賭ける時が来た」という感じで。曲と向き合ううちに、これはだんだんロマンチックな方向へと傾いていった。去年の夏に妻と結婚したんだけど、その時のエネルギーがこの曲には少し込められているよ。
