ベルギー/リエージュ拠点のオルタナティヴポップバンド Pale Greyが、5/2にodessaからリリースしたニューシングル 'Nikita'のMVを公開！
ディレクターは Frédéric Moray。
共同プロデュースに Ash Workman (Metronomy, Christine and the Queens, Baxter Dury)を迎えた1月発売のアルバム『It Feels Like I Always Knew You』からシングルカット。
何度か書いてますが、アルバムは通勤中のバスで出会う人物をモチーフに、他人の人生を思い描く中で現実と幻想が交錯する感覚を表現した作品です。全12曲はそれぞれ人名がタイトルで、移民問題や家庭内暴力など現代の痛みを抱えた登場人物たちの物語となってます。
このコンセプトを掲げただけでも勝ちなのに、どの曲も良いからとても印象的でした。
“Nikita is a track that we see as a critique of competition in the artistic world. The various verses and choruses of the track refer to a conversation with another character who, disgusted by his behavior, throws in the towel. It's also a track in which we've gone further in experimentation, moving closer to abstract hip hop than the register in which we're most identified. Our rock aspect is drowned in a more electronic atmosphere.”
