““Internet Shrink” was written at a time where I’d really been putting off my mental health. I had just moved to Nashville, and didn’t know anyone…spent a lot of long nights in my head. I was struggling to find therapy which I could afford, and the apps must’ve read my mind because I started getting all these ‘self help’ influencers on my feed. Which I’m sure they all meant well, but my response was “you don’t know me, this one size fits all depression quick fix is clickbait spam, and it’s easy for a stranger on the internet to just say into the abyss that everyone will be ok”...but at the same time I really needed someone (real) to talk to. So this song ended up being a genuine cry for help to the real world, as well as a cynical ‘no thank you’ to the shrinks of the internet.”
