カナダ/トロント拠点のインディーポップバンド Jane's Partyが、6/18にJP Productionsからリリースしたニューシングル 'Comfortable People'を公開！
ノスタルジックな雰囲気かと思いきや歌詞を含めて考えてみると...という倦怠感が魅力的な一曲。
“Comfortable People began as a breezy instrumental that existed without words for about four years. The instrumental had a laid-back, almost weightless mood that I kept returning to. The lyrics finally came to me late one evening, walking home after a long, tiring day of teaching music to kids. I was completely spent, and I think that sense of exhaustion helped shape the tone of the song—detached, observational, and quietly self-aware.”
'Comfortable People'は、もともとは4年ほど歌詞のないまま存在していた、軽やかなインストゥルメンタルとして始まりました。どこか重力から解放されたような、リラックスしたムードがあり、何度も聴き返していたんです。歌詞が降りてきたのは、長くて疲れる一日を終えて、子どもたちに音楽を教えた帰り道の夜でした。完全にエネルギーを使い果たしていて、その疲労感が曲のトーン—どこか距離のある視点、観察的で、静かに自己認識を持った感じ—に影響を与えたのだと思います。
