Going Swimming、'All Dressed Up To Cry'を公開

オーストラリア/メルボルン拠点のガレージロックバンド Going Swimmingが、8/17にリリースしたニューシングル 'All Dressed Up To Cry'を公開！

Going Swimmingは Aswin Lakshman, Ben Barclay, Callan Trewenack, Nicholas Leggattの4人組。

2012年に結成、これまでに2枚のアルバムをリリースし、国内の主要アクトはもちろん Guantanamo Baywatch, White Fangなどとも共演してます。

今回のシングルは2018年のセカンドアルバム『Sultans of Swim』以来となる新曲で、ミックスは Rohan Sforcina (Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Adalita)が担当。

汗と酒まみれのサーフパンクという今までのイメージはあるにはあるけど、さすがに前回のリリースからかなり時間が経って、バンドが語るようにコロナ禍もあって少し陰りがある感じ。そして、そのパーティーパーティーしてない雰囲気が好きでした。

“'All Dressed up to Cry' came about during lockdown. Like most people, it was a really difficult period (particularly down here in Melbourne), and it was only made more difficult by the breakdown of a long-term relationship. It was a pretty dark time - particularly when you lose so many outlets that keep you sane. It felt like the only thing to look forward to was dressing up for shitty awkward drinks over Zoom with your mates and doing your best to get through it.”

'All Dressed Up To Cry'は、ロックダウン中に生まれた。他の人たちと同じように、（特にここメルボルンでは）本当に大変な時期で、長年の交際が破綻したことで、さらに困難な状況に追い込まれた。特に、正気を保つための多くの出口を失ったときは、かなり暗かった。唯一の楽しみは、仲間とZoom越しにくだらない気まずい飲み会をするためにオシャレをすることと、それを乗り切るためにベストを尽くすことだと感じていた。
