長年のコラボレーター Steve Marshallが共同作曲・プロデュースを務め、パーカッションで Reuben ‘Sleepy’ Whiteが参加。
Sade, Erykah Baduから Cleo Sol, Snoh Aalegraまで、結局こういうのが一番好きってやつの最新版。オーガニックな質感が素晴らしい。
“‘My Turn’ is a declaration – drawing a circle around myself and carefully choosing what energies I let in. When writing the lyrics, I felt myself calling in energy that can strengthen me while rejecting repetitive cycles of negativity. It’s about being real with myself, owning what I bring to the table, and refusing to play small out of fear.”
'My Turn'は自己宣言のようなもの。自分の周りに円を描き、どんなエネルギーを受け入れるかを慎重に選ぶということ。歌詞を書いているとき、自分を強くしてくれるエネルギーを呼び込みながら、繰り返されるネガティブなサイクルを拒絶している感覚があった。この曲は、自分に正直になり、自分の価値を認め、恐れから小さくまとまることを拒むというメッセージを込めている。
