ニューヨーク/クイーンズ拠点の Danny Bateman, Steve Bateman兄弟によるオルタナティヴロックバンド Frogが、1/24にtapewormiesからリリースしたニューシングル 'MIXTAPE LINER NOTES VAR. VII'を公開！
'MIXTAPE LINER NOTES VAR. VII'は2/14発売のニューアルバム『1000 Variations on the Same Song』収録曲。
2023年に活動休止から復帰し、アルバム発表。最近は Horse Jumper Of Loveや、今をときめく Ray Bull, Dutch Interiorとの共演が続き、良いバンドは一度止まったからといってリセットされるわけではないことを実感したわけですが、今年からはバンドの初期メン Thomas Whiteがベースで復帰してライブを行なっていくようで勢いはまだ止まらないようです。
あやふやなジャンルの境界線を行き来し、ユニークな歌詞で色付けする風変わりな個性が際立ってます。数分前には思ってもなかったところに意識を飛ばしてくれる音楽が好きで、彼らはそういう楽曲を作ってくれるからずっと好きです。
Jonathan Richman, Silver Jews, Daniel Johnston, MJ Lenderman辺りが好きな人におすすめ。
