Fieldress、'Wake Us Up'を公開

カリフォルニア州オークランド拠点のインディーポップアーティスト Fieldressが、4/4にリリースしたニューシングル 'Wake Us Up'を公開！

Fieldressは2018年に Sasha Reynolds, Zach Farhneyの2人で結成し、現在はフルバンドとして活動してます。

'Wake Us Up'は6/27発売のデビューアルバム『It’s a Lot』収録曲。

演奏に Phil Di Leo, Naomi Golucino, Francisco Camacho, Marissa Deitz, Trevor Hallが参加し、ミックスは Geoff Saba、マスタリングは Philip Shaw Bovaが担当。

ややジャズっぽいアンサンブル、メランコリックなボーカル、チェロやヴィブラフォンの響きが混ざり合って独特のムードがあります。中盤以降の声と楽器の有機的な重なり具合が特に好き。

“This song was written in 2015 in my tiny studio at night while a bike party was passing by my little apartment. I was freshly out of college, trying to find my way musically and had met another musician who lived in oklahoma city at the time. he always talked about not wanting to be here anymore, not wanting to wake up anymore. Let's just say it was a sliver of rough patches in my life and things weren't all dandy. I've also had a similar background from the past of not wanting to wake up or be here because life felt too hard at the time as a kid. So this song is partially from his point of view of not wanting to wake up, and then since he took advantage of me I also didn't want him to wake up either, but at the same time I did. All to say that there are a lot of dark feelings in this song and it's about loving someone so much you're blind to who they actually are and that they are taking advantage of you emotionally, financially, etc.”

この曲は2015年、私の小さなスタジオで夜に書かれました。ちょうどバイクパーティーが私の小さなアパートの前を通っていた頃です。大学を出たばかりで、自分の音楽的な方向性を模索していて、そのときオクラホマシティに住んでいた別のミュージシャンと出会いました。彼はいつも「ここにいたくない」「もう目覚めたくない」と言っていて、当時の私はちょっとした荒波の中にいました。実は私自身も子どもの頃、人生があまりにつらくて目覚めたくないと思っていたことがあるんです。だからこの曲は、彼の「目覚めたくない」という気持ちを代弁しつつ、彼に傷つけられたことで「彼にも目覚めてほしくない」と思った気持ち、でもやっぱり「目覚めてほしい」という葛藤が入り混じっています。要するに、この曲にはたくさんの暗い感情が込められています。そしてそれは、自分を感情的にも経済的にも利用してくる相手を、愛しすぎて見えなくなっていたという経験に基づいています。
