Echo Machine、'Last Action Hero'のリリックビデオを公開

スコットランド/ダンディー拠点のニューウェイヴバンド Echo Machineが、1/12にリリースしたニューシングル 'Last Action Hero'のリリックビデオを公開！

Echo Machineは Gary Moore, Michael J McFarlane, Hannah McKay, Heather McKay, Lewis Bageの5人組。

2020年にデビューアルバム『Instant Transmissions』を発表し、スコットランドのアルバムチャートで14位、イギリスのレコードストアチャートで9位を獲得。2022年には Placeboのヨーロッパを巡るアリーナツアーのサポートを務めた勢いに乗ってるバンドです。

'Last Action Hero'は3/15にAssai Recordingsから発売するニューアルバム『Accidental Euphoria』収録曲。

Depeche Modeと90's後半のポップパンクを合わせたようなサウンドで面白い。単純なBPM以外のところでいうと、ドラムのフレーズにblink-182のときのTravis Barkerのようなニュアンスがあって好き。

“It's an action packed, speedy little number. A tale of sitting on a train or bus late at night, looking at the reflections against the dark window and imagining it as an alternative world. One inhabited by your ideal self. Making you want to pass through into that world, to become that person or at least talk to them. I think mostly because I tend to be on public transport at night, alone and feeling sorry for myself, usually after a few drinks, I look at that mirror world and dream of what I might have been.”

アクション満載のスピーディーな曲だ。深夜の電車やバスの中で、暗い窓に反射する景色を眺めながら、別の世界を想像する物語。理想の自分が住む世界を。その世界に入り込み、その人になってみたい、少なくともその人と話してみたいと思わせる。夜の公共交通機関で、一人で、自分を情けなく思いながら、お酒を飲んだ後に、鏡の世界を見て、自分がどうなっていたかを夢想する。
