スコットランド/グラスゴー拠点のインディーロックバンド Declan Welsh and The Decadent Westが、2/22にFrictionless Musicからリリースしたニューシングル 'King Of My Head'のMVを公開！

ディレクターは Daniel Blake。

'King Of My Head'は9/22発売のニューアルバム『2』のリード曲で、プロデュースは Gianluca Buccaletti (Arlo Parks, Big Piig, Easy Life)、マスタリングは Heba Kadry (Beach House, björk, Big Thief, Slowdive)が担当。

キャパ1900人の会場 Barrowland Ballroomでの公演がソールドアウトし、地元の人気バンド Twin Atlanticのサポートを務め、ブレイクする準備は万全だなっていう状態が伺える新曲でした。

“The lyrics are about kidding yourself that you’re in control. I’m the King of My Head, tell me who would rule instead? Cos see when your head’s working against you, you think to yourself sometimes - this is me. I’m doing this. I can stop this. I can think my way out of feeling this way. But the tool you have to fix the problem is the same one that causes it. Like fixing a hole in the wall with a hammer.” - Declan Welsh

この歌詞は、自分がコントロールできていると自分をからかっているというものです。俺は頭の中の王様だ、代わりに誰が支配するか教えてくれ？自分の頭が自分に対して不利に働いている時、時々自分自身にこう思うんだ、これが俺なんだと。これは私だ、私がやっているんだ。私はこれを止めることができる。これを止めることもできるし、この気持ちから逃れる方法を考えることもできる。でも、問題を解決するための道具は、その問題の原因となったものと同じものなんです。壁にあいた穴をハンマーで直すようなものです。 - Declan Welsh
