カナダ/トロント拠点のオルタナティヴカントリーバンド Cuff The Dukeが、7/31にCardinal Recordsからリリースしたニューシングル 'Leaving it All Behind'のMVを公開！

ディレクターは Boy Wonder。

9/6発売のニューアルバム『Breaking Dawn』収録曲。

カナダ版グラミー賞のジュノー賞にノミネートされたバンドで、今作は10年以上の活動休止を経たカムバック作品です。

フロントマン Wayne Pettiが自身のメンタルヘルスと折り合いをつけていく過程を描いており、休止期間中は The National, Owen Pallett, Broken Social Scene, Jennifer Castleのマネージャーを務めてました。

“I felt like I failed because music would no longer be my sole focus. The line “I bought the lie that I told myself, now it's coming back to haunt me” reflects how young musicians can become overconfident, believing their success will never end. But every artist faces ups and downs, and when reality hits, it can be a nightmare. Saying “I’m getting ahead of it by leaving it all behind” was the headspace I needed to be in, to move forward as one chapter ended and another began.” – Wayne Petti

音楽が自分だけのものでなくなるから、失敗したような気がした。「自分に言い聞かせた嘘を信じてしまったから、今になってそれがつきまとってきている」という歌詞は、若いミュージシャンがいかに自信過剰になり、自分の成功が決して終わらないと信じているかを反映している。しかし、どのアーティストも浮き沈みに直面し、現実が襲ってくると悪夢となる。「すべてを置き去りにすることで、先に進んでいるんだ」という言葉は、ひとつの章が終わり、次の章が始まるときに前に進むために必要な精神状態だった。 – Wayne Petti
