Black Doldrums、'Repetition'のMVを公開

イングランド/ロンドン拠点のゴス・ポストパンクバンド Black Doldrumsが、7/29にFuzz Clubからリリースしたニューシングル 'Repetition'のMVを公開！

制作は Sophie Landers, Kevin Gibbard。

80年代ゴシック・ポストパンクやシンセポップ、John CarpenterやVangelisの映画音楽からインスピレーションを受けた3人組。

'Repetition'は11/13発売のニューアルバム『Repetition Compulsion』収録曲。

2022年のデビューアルバム『Dead Awake』、2024年の『In Limerence』に続く"State of Mind Trilogy"の完結編となる3枚目です。フロイトが提唱した反復強迫の概念をタイトルに冠し、無意識に繰り返される感情パターンや破壊的行動を親密な関係、集合的記憶、政治、メンタルヘルスといった切り口で掘り下げる全11曲。

“The song came from an idea to challenge ourselves to write something around one riff and something dirge-like. It also fit the theme of the album and the topic of repetition by literally experimenting with repetition in the musical sense. The opening line – “is your mind split in two” – is something taken from our conversations on our many long walks around London where Sophie was talking about the psychological term splitting. It seemed to fit the feel of the song and theme of the album so much so it now opens up both the album and our live shows.”

この曲は、たった一つのリフを軸に、葬送曲のような重苦しい雰囲気を持つ楽曲を作ってみようという挑戦から生まれました。音楽的な意味で反復を実際に実験してみるという試みは、アルバムのテーマや『反復』という題材にもぴったりでした。冒頭のフレーズ『is your mind split in two』は、ロンドン市内を長時間散歩しながら交わした会話から生まれたものです。その時Sophieが、心理学用語であるスプリッティング（心の分裂）について話していました。その言葉が曲の雰囲気やアルバムのテーマにあまりにもしっくりきたため、今ではアルバムのオープニング曲としてだけでなく、ライブの幕開けを飾る曲にもなっています。
