カリフォルニア州オークランド拠点のインディーポップバンド Trails and Waysが、7/21にNon Marketからリリースしたニューシングル 'ILU LOL'を公開！
今秋発売予定のニューアルバム『Open Water』収録曲。
スペインのフラメンコ、ブラジルのMPB、カリフォルニアの陽気なインディーポップを組み合わせたサウンドで2010年代に颯爽と現れたバンド。活動休止を挟んで昨年に約9年振りの新曲を発表してからは、アルバムリリースに向けて積極的に動いてます。
いつもの構成楽器や明るいムードじゃないところが、いかにもアルバム収録曲ならではって感じがしていい。意外性のある新曲が何気にその後の方向性を変えたりもしますし。
““ILU LOL” began on a late-night train ride after leaving a lover’s house without really saying what needed to be said. Unsure whether to turn back, or text back too quickly, the song’s evolved from the half-joking text that was sent: “ILU LOL.” It is a tiny message carrying an almost unbearable amount of feeling: the scary thrill of falling for a close friend, the insecurity of not knowing what comes next, and the hope that the lights might still be on.”
